Welcome to the web site for the Society of Traditional Roman Catholics!NEWSLETTER UPDATEThank you to all who contributed to STRC when an announcement similar to what is found below was printed in the November, 2009, newsletter. By the grace of God, we received the funds to print a newsletter in March, 2010. You can expect to get your copy in the mail in early March. We still need your help to publish future issues this year. Please be faithful with your donations.
The Society of Traditional Roman Catholics, and its newsletter The Catholic Voice, have come under the effects of the present economic crisis. Our publication is sent out without any required subscription payment to thousands of people in our country and throughout the world. Donations have dropped significantly since February, 2009, bringing us to the decision to only publish The Catholic Voice when we have the money to do so. We operated this way in the beginning of our work, and we find it necessary to return to that policy once again. We will only publish the newsletter when we have sufficient funds, and will notify you of approximate dates of future publications on this web site. Seminarian Studies Burse It goes without saying that what we need today are many holy and learned priests who will work for the Church and for souls in these troubled times. God is calling young men to His service as Roman Catholic priests faithful to Tradition, but some of them are prevented in their efforts to study and progress toward Holy Orders simply because they cannot afford the costs necessary for training in a traditional Catholic seminary. And, since traditional seminaries receive no support (except for free will donations) to assist these young men in their studies, much less help pay for all of the other necessary expenses related to running a seminary, we can see that the training and education of new priest may be either delayed or denied for lack of funding. If you are able to contribute to a Seminarian Studies Burse for the purpose of educating young Catholic men as priests, in any amount, please send your donation to the STRC and we will sponsor a seminarian in your name. Mission Statement The Society of Traditional Roman Catholics is a Roman
Catholic Apostolate, of both laity and
clergy, established to work for the full restoration of traditional Catholic rites, most
especially the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass of the Council of Trent, the ancient Latin Mass.
It is is a non-profit corporation, incorporated under the laws of the State of North
Carolina. We began our work among Roman Catholics in 1984.
The Catholic VoiceThe Society of Traditional Roman Catholics accomplishes these goals chiefly through the
publication of its newsletter, The Catholic Voice. For seventeen years the STRC
has published this work, first for Roman Catholics in North Carolina who shared similar
concerns about the changes in the Church, and now to many countries throughout the world.
The newsletter is supported solely through the free will donations of its readers, and is
sent free of charge to interested readers throughout the United States (foreign
subscribers are asked to send a donation of at least US$20.00 per year to cover postage
costs.)
The Pro Multis PinPictured above as the STRC logo, the Pro Multis pin is a unique symbol of the Traditional Movement of the Roman Catholic Church. Created by one of the STRC Board members in 1992 as a small lapel pin, it has served as a visible expression to all who meet you that you are a traditional Roman Catholic and that you are gravely concerned with the changes made to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Most especially is this concern raised regarding the invalidating changes made to the form of the Consecration of the wine where the words of Jesus Christ that His Blood was shed for "the many" (pro multis) who would profit by the fruit of His Sacrifice (as the Council of Trent teaches) were wrongfully changed to "for all" to express a wrong intention about the fruit of this Sacrifice and to support the teachings of false ecumenism. If you would like a Pro Multis pin, please send a donation of at least $4.50 per pin (US$7.50 foreign) to the address below.
Mass StipendsWe are accepting stipends for your Mass intentions. Your intentions for living or deceased family members, friends, or your own personal intentions will be offered by priests affiliated with the Society of Traditional Roman Catholics. This is the Roman (Tridentine) Latin Mass -- the Mass of All-Times. The usual donation for Mass stipends is US$15.00 for each Mass; if you wish the traditional Gregorian Requiem Masses offered 30 days in a row, the requested stipend is $450.00. If you wish a Mass offered on a specific day, please allow at least 3 weeks advance notice. To have a Mass offered for your intentions, please send your intention(s) and the requested stipend(s) to the address below. If you wish a notification sent regarding the Mass(es) being offered, please include the complete address where this notification should be sent.
2010 Traditional Catholic CalendarIn late Fall, we will mail a copy of the 2010 traditional Roman calendar to all those who have contributed to the work of STRC. If you would like a copy of this beautiful wall calendar for your home, please send a donation of $20.00 (foreign US$25.00) to the address below.
The Motu Proprio on the Latin MassOn September 14, 2007, motu proprio of Benedict XVI (Summorum Pontificum) establishing a "universal indult" for the Latin Mass under certain conditions takes affect. Fr. Vaillancourt, who has written several reviews on this important topic prior to the promulgation of this document (click here to download a pdf file of those past articles) has written a critical review of the motu proprio that all traditional Catholics should read. It can be found at this link.
